3 Romantic Beach Destinations: Valentine's Day Edition

3 Romantic Beach Destinations: Valentine's Day Edition

Valentine's Day is around the corner, and hopefully you have already made plans for bae.   But in case you are slacking, here are some last minute destinations that will surely have your love thinking you spent months planning.  If you are anything like me then you would much rather spend this celebration of love frolicking soft sands and clear waters, simply enjoying each others company.   Here are three romantic and relaxing beach destinations guaranteed to start the celebration off on the right foot.

Hawaii

You could of course throw a dart at any of the islands and get your fair share of picturesque sunsets and postcard views.  But my pick for you andyour honey is the island of Maui.  Start by renting a convertible - a car is very much so needed to get around the island - and cruise down the Honoapi'ilani Hwy with the top down, taking in incredible island views.  You can even pull over in one of the many beach parks or designated view points along the way and truly cherish the moment.  Put on some Luther or Marvin to set the mood.   Thank me later! *wink wink*.

Bonus:  Make sure to stop by Ululani's Shave Ice in Lahaina for the BEST shaved ice on the island - I recommend cherry flavor.   Take a nice stroll down the Lahaina district for some eats and shopping with beautiful views of the water that never leave your side.   Head further down the road to Black Rock at Ka’anapali Beach, one of Maui's top beaches for snorkeling or just lay out and get kissed by the sun.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

A beach town on the western part of Mexico, Cabo San Lucas has a little something for everyone.  Singles, couples, families. To begin, it would be advantageous to book an all-inclusive package at your resort or hotel (if it's not already included of course).  One less thing you have to worry about while 'gettin ya romance on'.   If you dare to venture out for some nightlife fun, downtown Cabo will provide just that.  Senor Frog, Cabo Wabo Cantina, El Squid Roe are some of the most popular spots.  Your hotel or resort may offer some nighttime entertainment/shows for guests as well.  But if you and honey are looking for some peace and quiet for the night, you might just be better off staying in your room, running a bubble bath, and popping a bottle of champagne.  The next day head down to the Marina and hop on a yacht (that you previously reserved) to continue your celebration of love.  Bae will love you for it!

Bonus:  Pop into one of the 'hole in the wall' eateries off the tourist path for some authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine.

Oranjestad, Aruba

One the most unique places I've visited, this Dutch island with perfectly hot temperatures year round will surely provide top notch romance for bae.   Start with booking a room at the Renaissance Hotel.  Why this hotel? Because it is the only hotel on the island that offers exclusive access for its guests to Aruba's Private Island.  (It also has a 24-hour casino, a swim-up pool bar, is within walking distance of downtown Oranjestad, and next to the infamous "I <3 ARUBA" sign.)  It's sooo worth it - especially for this special day!  Once you arrive on the private island by water taxi, head to the adult only Flamingo Beach where you see real live flamingos up close and personal!  So picturesque and breathtaking.  Surely a moment your love won't forget. Relax on a hammock, order a Mai Tai, then go for a dip in the crystal clear waters.

Bonus:  head to the Palm Beach area of Oranjestad for your romantic dinner for two right on the beach.  Make sure your reservations are just before the sunset over the water.  (Again, thank me later!)

Happy travels!
